The snow covered peaks are a beautiful backdrop behind our Carson Valley neighborhood.

Bob and Hannah enjoy an early morning walking photo shoot through the foothills and golf course that borders our neighborhood.

Bob caught this picture of Hannah just as the full moon was setting behind her.

Bob caught this picture of a red-tailed hawk just as it was taking off.

Snow on the Sierra's.

The area has experienced a year of record snow and rain causing an extreme amount of flooding in the Carson Valley below our home.

A panorama of the flooding below our home.

Many of the homes on the golf course were very close to getting flooded out.

In this photo it looks like the Carson Valley has its own lake.

Full moon setting over the Sierra's just west of our house in the early morning hours.

What a doll!

Sweet sixteen with her presents.

Soon after her birthday Hannah attended the Sadie Hawkins dance at Sierra Lutheran High School. Her date was Ryan Chall from Reno. We met Ryan and his family while camping in Yosemite last summer.

The view we had of the Carson Valley while snowshoeing around Spooner Lake.

2017 turned out to be a great year for winter sports with record amounts of snow.

There were only a couple of open spots on Spooner Lake from the warm springs that feed the lake. It was spectacular to watch hundreds of tiny fish "boiling" in these warm and algae rich openings.

Showshoe and cross country ski tracks leading across and around the lake.

Lisa thoroughly enjoying the outdoors.

For Hannah, snowshoeing is near the top of the list of fun things to do.

Natures amazing patterns.

Great kids and great for each other.

Fun times.

A lot of snow at the Spooner Lake trailhead.

One of the home improvement projects Bob worked on this winter was to add flooring, shelving, and ladder access to our attic. Without too much effort, we could easily have another room up there.

Another project Bob and Caleb worked on together this winter was to build a loft in Caleb's room; it really turned out great!

Caleb's loft; what a cool place to hang out!

Over Christmas break we made a trip to the San Francisco Bay area and Stanford. On the way there we stopped at the Donner Pass Memorial. A sad, but intriguing, and worthwhile stop.

View of the Oakland Bay Bridge.

While in the Bay area, we had to spend a bit of time on Fisherman's Wharf. What a fun place to visit!

A great view of San Francisco Bay from Fisherman's Wharf with a huge cargo hauling ship and the Golden Gate Bridge in the distance.
