Our big camping trip this summer was a weeklong stay at Tuolumne Meadows in Yosemite National Park. The high country of Yosemite is one of our favorite places to visit and now that we live a little over 100 miles away it is a place we will be visiting more often.
While there we had a great time hiking, biking, swimming, and just hanging out. Additionally, Bob and Hannah got to spend some great time going on early morning photo shoots together. This has become a tradition for them and something they both enjoy. If you'd like to see the results of their outings, CLICK HERE to view Bob's images, and HERE for those taken by Hannah. |

Welcome to Potts Base Camp in Yosemite. Hannah wood burned a handmade sign for our special campsite in Tuolumne Meadows. |
Tuolumne Meadows campground has over 300 sites and is the largest in the National Parks system. When you arrive they assign you a site and ours was great. |

Bob was a great camp breakfast cook! |
One of our little camp friends. |
One of the hikes we went on was a fun five mile round trip to Elizabeth Lake. Joining us was our good friend Chris England. This is a picture of Hannah's backpack and hiking poles resting near the shores of Elizabeth Lake. |
The hike to Elizabeth Lake was very scenic and once we arrived the kids and Chris had a great time cooling off by playing in the water. Here's Caleb all smiles after being kidded for not being able to keep his pants dry. |
Lisa loves to read and what a perfect place to read a Beatrix Potter book with tales of tiny animals in a country settings. Plus, the books are so small they fit right in your backpack. |

Hannah caught this picture of Bob while the two of them were out on one of their early morning photo shoots. |
Another scenic view - in Yosemite there are no shortage of beautiful sights. |

A photo taken by Hannah of her bracelet with the granite skyline of the High Sierra in the background. Her bracelet states: "The mountains are calling and I must go." How appropriate. |

Hannah and Bob spotted the cutest camper - a remodeled VW van converted into a pull behind camper. How sweet! |
Early morning on Tenaya Lake. |
We did a number of hikes around the Tuolomne area one of which was to May Lake, the place where Bob took Hannah on her first backpacking trip when she was seven. This picture was taken at the exact place where they set up camp back in 2007. |
Hannah retrieving a fishing lure she spotted at the bottom of May Lake, firmly stating: "I WILL get that thing!" |
Here we are for a family picture at lovely May Lake. Bob and Hannah (now soaking, but also the proud owner of a fishing lure) had fun reminiscing the last time they were here. |
Caleb enjoying some time in the water of another of Yosemite's beautiful lakes - Tenaya Lake. |
Lisa and the kids had a great time paddling around in our new play kayak. |

The picturesque Tuolumne River. |
The famous naturalist John Muir first experienced Tuolumne Meadows as a shepherd in the 1860's. That experience was the beginning of a lifelong commitment to conservation and preservation of the High Sierra. In 1914 the 211-mile hiking trail that weaves through the Sierra Nevada mountains from Mount Whitney to Yosemite Valley was named in his honor. |

On the western boarder of Tuolumne Meadows and just on the other side of the Tuolumne river is the old McCauley Cabin. It was built in 1897 as a sheepherder's cabin and is currently being used as a Ranger cabin. What an amazing setting and one Bob would love to retire to. |
