Instead of climbing Mummy Mountain using the traditional route from the south via Trail Canyon, Steve Hamilton and I decided to climb from the north from Highway 158. This is looking up through the steep upper rock bands near the the summit.

Looking back to the north to Highway 158 where we started earlier in the morning.

The last steep chute before the summit (11,528 feet).

Our first view of Mount Charleston in the distance as we summit.

Looking down to the west and the Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort in Lee Canyon.

Some of the beauty on the summit of Mummy Mountain.

The spring flowers were in full bloom.

Steve Hamilton with Mount Charleston in the background. As I took this picture it was snowing while in Vegas it was around 100oF. Amazing variety in the Mojave Desert.

These pictures were taken on our descent down the normal route most often used to climb Mummy. Making a loop out of the climb was a more interesting way than to go up and back on the same route.

Mount Charleston as viewed from the trail junction at the top of Trail Canyon.

The famous +-3,000 year old Bristlecone Pine tree known as "The Raintree" on North Loop Trail near Mummy Springs.
