Setting out on another wonderful hike together. |
The hike to the summit of Fortification hill is a great six mile round trip hike to the top of an extinct volcano on the Arizona side of Hoover dam. The views of Lake Mead, Hoover Dam, and the Las Vegas Valley from the summit are spectacular. This is a picture of our group heading up to go through a rock band that puts you on the summit plateau. |

Looking back down from the summit plateau to our parked vehicles at the trailhead. |
Our good friend Bruce Barton on the summit with a spectacular view of Hoover Dam in the background. If you look closely you can see the by-pass bridge construction project. |
A wide angle view of Hoover Dam and Lake Mead with the Las Vegas Valley far beyond. |
Our good friends, Margie and Martin Boyett. |

Fortification Hill as seen from the trailhead. The Fortification Hill hike is one of the better Mojave Desert winter hikes. |
