On May 15th, we joined Hannah to celebrate her graduation with a Master of Science in Geography from the The Mackay School of Earth Sciences and Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno.

A very proud Dad.

It was a beautiful day on the UNR campus with lots of smiles to go around.

Our lovely daughter Hannah. We are so proud of her.

Hannah with President Sandoval. President Sandoval was formerly Governor Sandoval and was Bob's boss from 2010-2018.

Sharing a few gifts with our lovely daughter.
In March we bought a very nice, low mileage Toyota 4Runner. We love our 2007 Prius and our 2006 Tacoma, but they are both almost 20 years old with over 150,000 miles on each them. That said, we didn't get rid of them as they're both still running great and have a lot of miles left in them. Having a newer vehicle with all the latest technology gives us more opportunities to go on road and camping trips without concern. It's great!

Here's Bob (with Chester) taking out our new 4Runner for a test drive of the trailering system to get ready for camping season.

Going to the shooting range is a favorite hobby for both Hannah and Bob.

The cute and very popular Candy Cart that Lisa and her colleague, Meagan Shull, put together to support Legacy Christian Academy's "Walk of Faith" fundraiser.

In April we took our new 4Runner on it's first road trip to Montana and Idaho. Here we are at Bob's Mom's place in Montana with two of his brothers and their families.

From left to right are: Jim Potts, Lisa (and Chester), Dylan and Michelle Cabral, Evie Potts, Lee Potts, Kanoa Brown in the arms of his mom Lauren Brown, Ramsey Brown, Adam Potts, Carolyn Potts, Oliver Potts, Dave Potts, Addie Potts, Kate Potts and Bob.

After leaving Montana, our next stop was Boise, Idaho to visit Lisa's side of the family.

This is a picture of Lisa's niece Gabriel (Gabby), her husband Keaton, and their new son, Brooks James.

Another one of our favorite places in Idaho, Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve.

On April 10th Hannah competed in UNR's Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT). This is a crazy, fast-paced event where graduate students are given three minutes to present their research to an audience and judging panel using nothing but a single PowerPoint slide. With the help of this slide, Hannah got third place against her Master's candidate peers.

Hannah joining the other winners of the Three Minute Thesis Competition (3MT) to receive her $600 prize check. We were so proud!!

Hannah's birthday is January 24th and Bob's is February 16th. Because of Hannah's busy schedule at UNR working on her Masters, we decided to wait to celebrate both their birthdays on February 16th. Here Hannah is with her favorite tea and a very special, cherished book given to her by Lisa, "A gift from the Sea" by Anne Morrow Lindbergh.

And Bob received this collection of hardwoods to make something special out of. The set included Zebrawood, Purpleheart, Padauk, Okoume hardwoods.

Hannah's big trip this year was a research project in the country of Chile flying drones over an active volcano using magnetometer and spectrography to detect where the lava flows were most active. So, in honor of that, Bob ordered this cool map of Chile and made a special frame for it to hang up to remember her great adventure.

Check out the great Chile webpage Hannah put together after her trip.

Bob also received a bottle of wine and a box of chocolates from Hannah that she took back from her trip to Chile. She was concerned that the bottle wouldn't make the trip without breaking or being confiscated, but it made it into Bob's hands safe and sound.

This is an image of the data Hannah collected while flying a drone over the active volcano in Chile. The rainbow colors are the magnetism across the area and the black lines are her flights.

The two of us on a beautiful January Saturday after finishing a great snowshoe outing.
