In November our family joined our friends and neighbors, the Summers, for a day of Geocaching. Here they are watching Hannah, high in a Ponderosa, climbing to find one of the prizes.

All smiles, she found it!

Caleb is getting to be quite a mountain biker.

The first week of November, Bob traveled to Arlington Virginia to teach an Applied Analyst Training for The Council for Community and Economic Research.

This was a fairly intensive training that lasted three days. Bob co-taught advanced skills in collecting, analyzing, and presenting regional economic and labor market data.

While there he had the opportunity to enjoy some of the better restaurants in the D.C. area, one of which was Ted's Montana Grill, taking him back to his cowboy days working on the Flying "D" ranch in Montana (This was before Ted Turner owned it and it was still a working cattle ranch).

While in Arlington, Bob also had the chance to visit the Pentagon Memorial honoring the victims of the September 11 attacks.

The Pentagon Memorial is a touching reminder of the 184 people who died in the Pentagon building and on American Airlines Flight 77.

It was a quiet and solemn place.

October 31st 2016 - The Potts' annual pumpkin carving yields some artistic pumpkins.

This year our theme was Jurassic Park. Hannah dressed up as a Velociraptor, Caleb as the kid who gets electrocuted, and Christy went a dinofood -- "a steak!"

Caleb had fun carving pumpkins we grew in our own garden here in Carson City.

Hannah is becoming quite the artistic pumpkin carver.

On October 29th Caleb celebrated his 13th birthday. Here he is holding one of his favorite comics, Calvin and Hobbs.

The last week of October Bob attended a conference in Washington D.C. While there he had a bit of time to walk around our nation's capital and take some early morning photos. Here is a lovely reflection of the Capital Building.

In October Bob coupled a business trip with a short weekend visit to his parents. While there Bob's Mom got the rest of his family together for a fun night of games and visiting. In the foreground is Bob's Dad, Herb, who is now 86.

On his way to Reno to catch an early morning flight on October 14, Bob took this image of the tragic Little Valley Fire. It began when embers from a controlled burn set 10 days earlier in timber above Washoe Valley sparked and flared. When it was finally contained on the 19th, more than 2,300 acres had burned destroying 23 homes and 17 outbuildings.

On October 13, Bob was awarded the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) Coin. The EDAWN Coin is "presented in recognition of exceptional leadership, engagement, and/or cooperation in support of Reno-Sparks Regional Economic Development efforts." Only a limited number of these awards are given out each year, so this was a great honor!

The award was presented at the Atlantis Casino Resort in Reno, and both Bob and I felt like royalty. It was kind of like being at the academy awards with all the pomp and ceremony, followed by a very nice dinner.
