Lisa in the early sections of Echo Canyon. The approach was brutally hot (~105o F) so it was great to get into the cool, subterranean beauty of Echo Canyon.
When we were hiking in the heat from the main Zion canyon we were questioning the wisdom of carrying full wetsuits until we got deeper into Echo, then it made perfect sense. There were a number of places we had to squeeze between the canyon walls and huge blocks of ice and snow. That, coupled with a number of very cold swims, made us very thankful we had carried all the extra gear.
